SPECIAL CORONA VIRUS PERIOD - MESSAGE FROM ABHIJATA IYENGAR
na tyājyaḿ kāryam eva tat
yajño dānaḿ tapaś caiva
Acts of sacrifice, charity and penance are not to be given up; they must be performed.
Indeed, sacrifice, charity and penance purify even the great souls. (18.5)
Penance or tapas is done for oneself. It should be our austere resolve and restraint to
be in our place of stay and follow the rules laid down by our governing authorities.
Stay home is the mantra now.
Dana which is translated as charity is actually an act of giving. What better way to
follow dana now than to stay indoors and give up our urge to socialise. It is our social
duty to not put others in danger.
Yajna which is translated as sacrifice is an offering we make to Nature. It is a
symbolic spiritual exchange between oneself and Nature. Each one of us should in
solidarity fight this outbreak. Each one of us can make a difference today and give
the world a chance to rebuild.
Ingrid, thanks so much for stepping up so quickly to provide these online classes for us. I am certainly not the only one to appreciate the calming effect this has in these difficult days. Though I'm sure we are also looking forward to being in the same room together with you again one of these fine days! Sarah F.
Dear Ingrid, I am so grateful for your classes, even on Skype you are able to guide us through our in/out balance and restore positive energy. It's an hour of pure bliss! My family also sees the difference in me: the days with yoga I am more relaxed, happier, and I m' more willing to listen to others. In those difficult days, your class is of the things I look forward together with the sun and the blue sky!!
BRAVO !! Véro
